As you can see by the image above, I am using Kalium strings exclusively. I have been doing string research and trying all types to see what works best with my playing style as well as what simply feels best under my hands. I have tried many of the standard well known brands and have come to realize that for the tone and flow of my notes, the KALIUM strings are the best!
The beauty of these strings is that they are tailored to the player's individual needs. I spoke with "Guitario" Chris at Kalium to figure out what the best gauge and set up is for my basses. After many thoughts and discussions to see if Pink overworked Green, we came to the agreement that the right set for me is a hybrid set that is even tension balanced and very springy and vibrant. The reason for the tension and spring-like flexibility come from the way these strings are made. Chris explains that the core is lighter than most traditionally made strings. This core gives the strings more life. he also explains that they source their wire from the US and each string requires three spools of wire (and these are different for the different strings) unlike some of the larger companies who source their wire from China and use the same core wire and wraps on every string they produce...
All in all, I have compared these strings to a variety of other offerings and I found that they strings hold up longer-they last longer-even under heavy playing schedules. I took a set on my Bluesman Pink DeVille bass on a week's worth of gigs in South Dakota a couple of weeks ago and they STILL do not sound like they have lost any sizzle or zing!
