Thanks to Kalium Strings for the way in the door! I spent 3 days walking and catching up with friends and musical family members. It was awesome!
For those of you looking for gear, there are a number of things that were noteworthy, start with Sims Custom Super Quad Coil Pickups, They can build a bass to suit you, or the pickups can be purchased separately and installed in any bass. Here is Rudy Sarzo signing autographs and meeting fans at the Sims booth, ( I was standing security for this moment....)
I also had time to try out the new Tech 21 dp dUg Pinnick Pedal....it was awesome! I will have one of those soon...Next, there was the new Rickenbacker 4003 S/5 that I test drove and did a facebook live video on as well...(you can see this video on my page AND on the Rickenbacker Official facebook page.)
Yes, in the last picture I was attempting to impale Brendan from Rickenbacker with the new 5 string.....It has been our tradition for 3 years now....
If you look in the next picture lot here, you will George Anderson (bass player for the smashing brit funk/jazz band, Shakatak)..He is a fellow Jaydee player and the GA24 model is named for him...
Others that you see in these pics are Glenn Hughes, Vail Johnson and a couple of Dingwall basses. There is also the 9 necked Fender and the Mark Slaughter album 'Halfway There' in the Ellefson display case! And of course, a new Aria Pro II SB 1000.......Killer basses!!!!
So many more things I can say......It was awesome!!
Onward to the next one!!!!
Happy New Year to all of you!
I finished out 2017 with a trip to Ireland and a tour with the band Broken Walls....Had a GREAT time, with friends and played some music!
As we step into the fray for 2018, there are a few things already on the horizon...NAMM show hits LA at the end of this month and I will be there at the Kalium Strings booth Hall E Booth 1104 as well as participating in some jam sessions in other places! Watch for the pink beard as you cruise the floors---you never know where I will turn up!
A couple of notes here...there is more music coming as Mark Slaughter and I continue to write....and there is a new single coming out from a renewed and revamped Innocent Monday...(the original album, Stories from the Garden is on iTunes...)
There is also talk of a theatrical production which will include live performance and various instruments and styles.....Going to be fun!
On the bass front, the double neck is ready for action! On top of that, there is a stable of Rickenbackers waiting to have their turns.....One of them may even be pink!!!!
Onward in bass world!!! Tracking shot from the studio....(some of you will recognize the guitars on the wall!)
