As 2016 comes to a close, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the companies that have chosen to endorse what I do by providing the amazing basses (et al) that I use on a daily basis.
As you all have seen, it takes a number of PiNK basses to make my world complete and the creators of these fine stringed instruments have honored me by taking my unusual requests and turning them into realities with four strings.
At the top of the list are two companies that have not only provided excellent instruments but have become friends as well.
Bluesman Vintage has created what I consider to be the STANDARD in traditional styled basses with some minor improvements that simply enhance the original designs and make the basses more useful and user friendly. Faster necks, more sustain and lightweight bodies empower me to be able to play long term gigs and not have shoulder or back pains at all. Couple this with the idea that 'nothing is impossible' in terms of electronics and finish and I have a winner! If you have the opportunity, check out a Bluesman Vintage for your traditional bass sound-needs.....
Jaydee Custom Guitars has been making truly inspiring basses since the late 70's in the UK. I am honored to have owned quite a number of them in the past few years and they are my 'go-to' bass for everything that does not require the traditional bass sound. While there are and have been many comparisons, I find these basses built by the Diggins family to be FAR superior to basses of this caliber at a very reasonable price. Many of you are familiar with my PiNK Series 3 Jaydee with the LEDs (courtesy of Martin Sims) that has started many a performance in stage black mode. I am impressed with the level of detail that is put into these basses and the fact that they are truly hand made. I cannot say enough about the tones that come from these basses. Again, if you have the option to try one, I heartily recommend it! You will not be disappointed.
Another important part of what I have become is the Ampeg amps. Many thanks to Dino at Ampeg for helping me nail the tones I love with the SVTs and of course, the PF 800. (When you see me out on the road, look for the Ampegs...I will not play through any other amp when on tour!) I look forward to a long relationship with Ampeg and the wall of sound can only get bigger!!!!
The sounds you hear would not be complete without my friends and family at Kalium Strings. Chris and Skip have seen fit to make sure that I am well covered with the best strings I can find. You owe it to yourself to try these strings on your basses! All gauges, all uses....When you order, tell them I sent you!!!!
And all of these crazy PiNK basses are riding in road cases made by BestInCase flight cases made right here in the home zone! Thanks to Brian and Dustin for the cool and mad cases that are lightweight and super durable!!!
There will be some brave new changes in the new year and I am looking forward to spending a lot of time on the road playing for you all!
Broken Walls, Evership and Mark Slaughter are a few of the musicians I will be playing/touring with. When we come to your town, come up and say hi!
Pinkbassman swag is coming also!!! Be prepared for the PiNK onslaught!!!
Until next time, Bass On and Happy New Year!!!
